Oxford University research into value of ISW’s

This piece of research could well be worth producing when applying for an ISW – one of it’s conclusions is –

“Findings demonstrate multiple reasons for use of ISWs. Evaluation of ISW reports indicated they fill in gaps in LA evidence, add expertise and skills and do not cause routine delay. Overall, senior judges’ views and experiences support those findings: they ordered ISW reports where the evidence was necessary and where a local authority could not provide the expertise and/or time; that practice predates the 26 week deadline for completion. “

Research shows ISW’s would reduce delay

As I suspected in a recent blog on ‘ISW’s an endangered species?’, it appears current research proves that Independent Social Workers would in fact reduce delay rather than extend it. Let’s hope the Government take notice ! – especially when the LSC are routinely refusing prior authority for instructions of ISW’s at the moment for mainly spurious reasons.

Guardian article on alternative approaches to adoption

Interesting article on adoption, as well as more imaginative approaches to ‘placement’.
